The comprehensive catalogue book on the work of Bruno Jakob, published on the occasion of the artist’s solo exhibition at Kunsthaus Baselland, is the first to provide an overview of his oeuvre from the late 1960s up to the present. The texts by more than 20 authors, including artist colleagues, curators, directors and other people who have accompanied him along the way, offer not only art-historical classifications or references to themes such as music and film, but also first-hand personal memories and accounts of the development of this unique work.
In addition to the multi-faceted oeuvre of the Swiss artist, who has lived in New York since 1980, the focus is on his numerous exhibitions and performances in Switzerland and abroad. In addition to the well-founded text contributions, the publication is characterized by extensive blocks of drawings, which provide an insight into Bruno Jakob’s as yet little known graphic oeuvre. These are supplemented by installation photographs from the exhibition at Kunsthaus Baselland and a representative compilation of documentary photographs from four decades.
With its 400 pages, this catalogue book is an important compendium for understanding the life and work of this exceptional Swiss artist.
