Leiko Ikemura. Before Thunder, After Dark is organized in the context of the first important overview by Japanese – Swiss artist Leiko Ikemura to be held in Italy, curated by Frank Boehm.
The project, under the patronage of the Consulate General of Japan in Milan and the Associazione Culturale Giappone in Italia, is a broad overview of Leiko Ikemura’s work and gathers a selection of 50 artworks realized between the 1980s until today.
The catalogue collects critical essays by Alessandro Rabottini and Quinn Latimer, and includes an unpublished conversation between the artist and the exhibition curator, that retraces Ikemura’s artistic development from the early years until nowadays.
